How To Spirit Fest
Our format for 2018 is different.
We are splitting the weekend into two separate categories.
Friday September 21st and most of Saturday September 22nd will feature Richard Rohr of the Center for Action and Contemplation. These presentations will constitute our main thrust but not all that happens this year. A one-time fee of $85 will be charged and registration will be available on-line. All of these will be at the Ridgway Events Center. Registration is limited to 300.
Saturday evening September 22nd and Sunday afternoon, September 23rd will feature a wonderful line-up of different presentations. On Saturday evening, we will present a special showing of the Sufi-inspired movie “Bab’Aziz – The Prince who contemplated His Soul.”
On Sunday afternoon there will be a four-part program entitled “Art as expressions of the Sacred.” Presentations, made by experts in their fields will include visual art, theater, poetry and music. To help cover costs, we will be asking for separate donations for each event (including the movie - suggested $15). All of these events will be held at the Sherbino Theater in downtown Ridgway. It is the intention of the board that a limited number of scholarships or subsidies be made available for those who truly lack funds to register. Use the contact link to apply.
Note: Our thinking is that many may leave after attending the Richard Rohr events on Friday and Saturday. The Ridgway Events Center has a maximum capacity of 300. The sold tickets are for these events. The other events (movie on Saturday night and the four presenters involved with Art as expressions of the Sacred on Sunday) - will be held at the Sherbino Theater, which can only accommodate about 160 people. We are not issuing advance tickets for these events and there are no reservations. As mentioned above, we are suggesting a $15 donation for each event to help cover costs. Therefore, not to be disappointed, we advise those who wish to attend, arrive at the door at least 30 minutes before the events start, to form a queue. We will hand out numbers until all seats are filled. However, for the Sunday afternoon programs, some people may wish to attend all four sessions or just one or two , so we will have to coordinate accordingly.
